DESCRIPTION

Seven-units residential refurbishment in North-West London

The scheme involves renovation and extension of the existing converted period building to form four new apartments, excavation of the basement and re-building of the side/rear annexe to include a one-bedroom duplex maisonette at the ground and lower-ground floor levels.

The new side unit is accessed via the undercroft side passage. It has the main living area at the ground floor level and a private terrace at the rear; the glazed ceiling along the boundary helps keep its massing consistent with the old annexe. The two new basement flats are provided with their own stepped sunken gardens in the extended lightwells. The existing upper floor flat has been split into two units, one of them with a mezzanine in the former attic space. The central part of the roof has been raised, still remaining out of sight from the public realm.
