DESCRIPTION

Refurbishment and rear extension of a maisonette in North-West London.

Our new project is a Japanese artist’s studio at the rear of a refurbished Edwardian house. The timber-framed structure features redwood cladding and a sedum green roof. Its transparency and almost frameless panoramic glazing make the landscape and the sky part of the working environment, providing quiet concentration and comfort of the indoors in the middle of the garden. Due to its North aspect, space does not suffer from glare or overheating. The evening sun is conveyed by the West-facing vertical skylight to the paved patio between the extension and the boundary.
