Area: 185 sq. m. Client: Confidential Sector: Residential
Location: West Kensington, London, UK Thinking about something similar? Renovation and refurbishment of a period flat in West London The client engaged our services to transform the 1900s’ apartment into a contemporary home for his family. The objective was to improve the zoning and the flow of space, add a dining room, a guest WC and an en-suite bathroom. The refurbishment involved substantial structural alterations. Multiple steel beams up to 6m long were installed; the longest ones had to be delivered on-site through temporary openings in the external wall. The apartment now has two double bedrooms, a kitchen, a large living room, a dining room and a study. We removed the redundant storage closets that clogged the central part of the flat and created the new focal point – spacious dining area, day-lit through a large fish tank. The kitchen was moved close to the dining and living areas, whereas the main bathroom and the child’s bedroom swapped places in order to increase the size of the latter. The completed project was branded by the freeholder as “excellent in terms of use of space, function, quality of workmanship and choice of finishes”. “Alexander of AR Architecture ran our project in 2011-2012. It’s been a very challenging project involving complete remodelling…” “AR Architecture has recently completed the refurbishment and remodelling of two flats within a mansion block of 187 flats within West Kensington…”
